When does recruiting start?

 

 

 

 

Freshman Year U15

• Introduce players to showcase events

• Players begin to determine college goals athletically and academically

• Select college coaches begin the identification process

Sophomore Year U16

• Players begin to identify schools in which interested

• Players begin to contact coaches of schools in which interested

• Identification process continues/begins for college coaches

• Begin informal unofficial visits

Junior Year U17

• Coaches begin mail and e-mail contact September 1 of junior year

• Coaches continue identification process at showcase events

• Players contact coaches and invite them to come watch them play

• Players register to take the ACT/SAT test in fall or spring

• Players plan and take unofficial visits to schools

• Coaches may make phone contact one time per week with prospects beginning July 1 after the junior year and prior to the senior year.

• Coaches may make off-campus in person contact with prospects beginning July 1 after the junior year and prior to the senior year only prior to or after a tournament weekend is complete.

• Coaches may make on-campus in person contact with prospects at any time only prior to or after a tournament weekend is complete. Prior to a single game day competition no in person contact may be made on or off-campus prior to the game.

Senior Year U18

• Phone and e-mail contact ongoing

• Players plan and take official visits, but are limited to 5 official visits

• Players register to take the ACT/SAT in fall if necessary

• Players sign National Letter of Intent in February

• Players register in the NCAA Initial Eligibility Clearinghouse

• Coaches continue identification process at showcase events

• Players apply for admission to university of choice
